A heartfelt thank must be given to Mr. Alexander S.W. Law, School Manager of TWGHs Sun Hoi Directors’ College for organising such an informative, enlightening and multifaceted career talk on 20th October, 2014 for the senior form students.
Different types of profession including Architecture, Surveying, I.T. and Design, Finance and Hotel Management were introduced to our students by the team of professionals from Mr. Law’s company. Job requirements, relevant training, interview skills as well as diverse education pathways were delivered during the talk to give students a better understanding of the current job market.
The highlight of the talk was the demonstration of sketching a cathedral by Mr. Law. As a chartered architect in Hong Kong, Mr. Law accomplished the task in just a few minutes. Building on his sketch, Mr. Law’s colleague produced a refined drawing of the cathedral with the design software, Illustrator. What an eye-opening experience for Sun Hoi students!
The Photo Exhibition featured a series of images of The Silk Road recorded by Dr. K. P. Ng, Assistant Professor of Textile & Clothing at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and paintings of Mr. Larry Leung that attracted a crowd of students and teachers after the talk. Thanks for the commitment of Dr. Ng to the success of the exhibition and the free copies of his photo collections he donated to school.
Apart from the $300,000 donated by Mr. Law last year for the improvement of school hall air-conditioning, to extend his concern to students’ academic performance, it is so beneficent of Mr. Law to announce his donation of another $300,000 as scholarship for the high-flyers during the talk.
