The Liaoning Province Federation of Association organized a summer tour in collaboration with Tung Wah Group of Hospitals from 30/7 to 4/8. Led by the vice-chairperson of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese and several members of the National Committee, 35 teachers and students from TWGHs Sun Hoi Directors’ College and TWGHs Mrs. Wu York Yu Memorial College participated in the exchange programme in order to explore the historical culture of the Liaoning Province.
Overall, the trip was purposeful and fruitful. One of our stops was the Shenyang Normal University. From there, students have learnt a lot about the origin and the cultural value of Beijing Opera, and they also had an opportunity to imitate the actors. On the other hand, we went to the athletic training ground and were granted the opportunity to talk and take pictures with the athletes. Since these destinations are generally non-open to the public, we highly appreciate the host for giving our students an invaluable experience.
Furthermore, we paid a visit to Dandong City (located in the northernmost part of China) and the experience was unforgettable. We were impressed by the views of Yalu Ula and the northern part of DPRK! We also set our foot in Hushan, the easternmost part of the Great Wall.
Apart from that, 15 of our senior students, accompanied by our principal, Ms. Leung Wan Fung and Ms. Wong Chui Ping went on a visit to one of our sister schools –Liaoning Province Shiyan High School. We were honored to be guests under the hospitality of Principal Zhang, vice-principal Yang, teachers and students from the school. Students went on for some ice-breaking games and we were taken for a tour to look around the school. Teachers have also introduced some dialects to our students and we all found it hilarious yet purposeful.
