In consideration of the recent teenage suicide incidents which has caused reverberation in the society, the Community and Relations Unit and Sun Hoi Ambassadors formed a team called “Dream Big, Fly High, Paint Bright” and joined the “Service Anywhere – Social Innovative Service Competition” activity organized by the VQ Foundation. The purpose of the activity is to stimulate the creativity of teenagers and add colour to their life. Through the fame of body painting, we also want to promote the value of living a positive life.
In order to accomplish these targets, ambassadors have undergone a training workshop about bodypainting, and they were all enthusiastic. On 12th March, our team participated in the commencement ceremony and oath taking rally, and won the Best Popularity Award and $1000 as reward. That day was full of inspiration.
12 students from S.5 were selected to participate in the “Teen Talk” Mock Court activity held by the Law Society of Hong Kong. The activity was held in the High Court, and participants were arranged to take the roles of plaintiff, defendant, lawyer and witness in an adapted case. They had to deconstruct the evidence with their demurrer skills. Participants have shown high passion in the activity, and were granted the “Excellent Performance Award”
Congratulations to the awardees 6A Lam Lam, graduate Pang Wun Fai and Ho Chi Pui who demonstrate resilience to strive forward in adversity. They are awarded $5000 individually for their hard work.6A Lam Lam has just attended the 2016 Future Stars Appreciation Ceremony on 21st January 2017 and received a certificate.
The school Acappella team-Acababies participated in Hong Kong International Acappella Contest 2016 Secondary School-Vocal Band in November and won the Silver award. The participants are as follows: 6A HO KA WING, 6B LAU SZE WAI, 6B LEE WING HIN, 6B HO CHUN WING, 6C HO BO KIU, 6D HUI WANG HIN, 6D SHEK TSZ FUNG.
Our Chinese Orchestra took part in Hong Kong Youth Music interflows 2016 (Secondary school-Chinese Music group), organized by Hong Kong Music Office and was awarded Bronze medal.
4D Poon Chiu Leuk was awarded 1ST runner-up in the 3rd Hong Kong Youth Piano Competition (Youth-piano group) 2016.It is his second achievement in two successive years, which he won the golden award last year. Over 20 countries, 50,000 people joined the competition. Poon has also been invited as the honored-guest performer in the opening ceremony for the competition next year.
Poon has also joined the 13th China Artist Association Piano Competition (Hong Kong District trial match) and the 2nd Prix d’ Europe (Hong Kong District trial match), and has won the Golden and Silver award respectively.
Two members from our handball team – Wong Chau Ting (4B) and To Yee Ting (4C) represented Hong Kong in the Lundaspelen Handball Competition 2016, held in Sweden. Competing with talented young players from all around Europe, they have earnt invaluable experience on and off the pitch.
