2017 Secondary School Peer Mediation Competition

In March, 4 foster prefects joined the 2017 Secondary School Peer Mediation Competition held in the City University of Hong Kong. In preparation for the competition, our students have been learning and practicing the skills of mediation since January. Their hard work paid off and was recognized by the organizer, each participant was rewarded with a certificate plus a book coupon.   

Drama Club - Award for Outstanding Stage effect

Together with 192 other secondary schools, 19 students from the Drama Society participated in the Hong Kong Drama Festival 2016-2017. On 28th Feb, they successfully attained a drama play and achieved the “Award for Outstanding stage effect”. Their performance was inspiring.

Tung Wah Mental Health First Aid Course Certificate Presentation

Last month, 12 Form 4 and Form 5 students participated in a 14 hour Mental Health First Aid course organized by Tung Wah. The course aimed at arousing students' concern about mental health and teaching them skills of dealing with mental health problem. After the course, our students were given certificates acknowledged by the Mental Health First Aid International.

Dance Awards 2016-2017

After months of efforts, the Dance team of Sun Hoi achieved The Excellent Award (Chinese Dance) in the 53rd Schools Dance Festival. They also participated in Tsuen Wan Dance Competition and won the Gold Award, the Best Cooperation Award and the Best Costume Award. They are invited to perform in the 53rd Schools Dance Festival Winners' Performance on 26/4 in Shatin Town Hall. Those who would like to  support them are welcome to purchase tickets at all URBTIX outlets.

14th International Talent Problem Solving Competition

This year, 33 S1 to S3 students represented Sun Hoi to participate in the 14th International Talent Problem Solving Competition. This competition assesses students’ problem-solving ability in four subjects: Chinese, English, Mathematics and Science.

Competing with more than 3000 participants from Hong Kong, Sun Hoi students won six individual prizes and two group prizes. 

Service Anywhere" – Social Innovative Service Competition

In consideration of the recent teenage suicide incidents which has caused reverberation in the society, the Community and Relations Unit and Sun Hoi Ambassadors formed a team called “Dream Big, Fly High, Paint Bright” and joined the “Service Anywhere – Social Innovative Service Competition” activity organized by the VQ Foundation. The purpose of the activity is to stimulate the creativity of teenagers and add colour to their life. Through the fame of body painting, we also want to promote the value of living a positive life.

In order to accomplish these targets, ambassadors have undergone a training workshop about bodypainting, and they were all enthusiastic. Our school is honored to be one of the 16 contestants and one of the 5 secondary school teams. We were granted $10000 to provide services to children in the Tuen Mun District. On 12th March, our team participated in the commencement ceremony and oath taking rally, and won the Best Popularity Award and $1000 as reward. That day was full of inspiration. 

“Teen Talk” Mock Court activity

12 students from S.5 were selected to participate in the “Teen Talk” Mock Court activity held by the Law Society of Hong Kong. The activity was held in the High Court, and participants were arranged to take the roles of plaintiff, defendant, lawyer and witness in an adapted case. They had to deconstruct the evidence with their demurrer skills. Participants have shown high passion in the activity, and were granted the “Excellent Performance Award”
